D Moms Fall 2013 (A.K.A. My Swan Song)

Last week, I promised some news on the work front (I also promised a breakdown of Audrey's new room...coming soon), so here's the scoop. Today is my last day at D Magazine, which means the fall issue of D Moms -- the very one that those tears above came from -- was my last as executive editor. I'll still be helping at D Home with product and shopping coverage, but I'm officially moving on to a new (big) adventure.

Starting tomorrow, I'll be joining my lovely, amazing, and talented friend Sam at her brilliant design firm, Swoon, the studio. I'll be assuming the role of principal, helping overseeing Swoon's brand and communications initiatives and, wait for it, helping to launch and lead their interiors division. My new gig will be similar to my job at D in that I'll get to do design work, styling, writing, strategy, and a slew of other creative endeavors. Suffice to say, it's going to be a fun gig.

The change, however, is bittersweet. I loved my job at D, and I loved D Moms (it was, in a way, my third baby), but I am so jazzed about going on this journey with Sam. Her firm has been incredibly successful, and her work is highly sought after by a slew of creative clients (think Neiman Marcus, the Dallas Museum of Art, the NasherV.O.D.). Getting to work alongside her as she grows and evolves her business is just immensely exciting to me.

The whole enterprise also forces me to stop and just sort of marinate in a moment of big time gratitude. When I left corporate America to join D as an editor, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. I'd landed my dream job, and I loved every minute of it (the good, the bad, and the ugly). But getting to embark on a second dream job? It just feels like an awful lot of goodness for one gal...I'm not gonna lie.

So here's to new adventures. I can't wait to share the journey with you guys!
xx

I honestly don't know what I am more jealous of – you getting work with Sam; or Sam getting to work with you! You ladies will be unstoppable together! Congrats on what you've done with D Moms and congrats on the new venture!

CONGRATULATIONS, Joslyn!!! Oh my gosh -- just getting caught up on your blog (clearly) and hadn't seen this until now. Now I know what you meant in a recent post about a project with Swoon. I am so excited for you!!! You're amazingly talented and I am so inspired by your drive to use that talent and break free of the doldrums of corporate America. Can't wait to see more of your work...
