Some Scenes From The Weekend...
a definite weekend highpoint -- breakfast on the back patio while flipping through undecorate...
I have to say...it was a little bit of an odd weekend. Things started out on a major upswing, as we got to spend Friday evening sharing a meal and discussing (the brilliant, change-inducing) To Kill a Mockingbird with some of our closest friends for our bookclub. That book...wow. Reading it as an adult (and as a mother) is a completely different experience than reading it (as I did the first time) as a junior high student. Atticus Finch is just an amazing and beautiful parent. I think you could write an entire parenting book based on how he interacted with Jem and Scout. Truly.
So definitely a good start, but then the rest of the weekend was spent fighting off low-level crud -- headcold, stomachache, general malaise... Honestly I'm not sure if it was mental or physical or some of both, but I ended up telling Bryan and the girls I was going to "rest" on the couch for a few minutes on Saturday only to open my eyes a full two hours later after taking what was (for me) an epic nap. I am not a napper friends. Even in my most sleep-deprived, post-baby, new-mom state I couldn't nap to save my life, so Saturday's siesta was huge.
By Sunday afternoon I was feeling a little better. I seemed to be shaking it off. Of course it didn't hurt that (after two excellent meals out + lovely flowers and notes from B and the girlies) we discovered a mother and baby dove sitting in their nest tucked into a corner of our fence.

glad you are feeling better! happy mother's day.
I'm sorry you were feeling better, my mind plays tricks with me and all me emotions end up in my stomach, causing me pains and (excuse me) nausea. Did I ever say your garden looks magical? Yes, it does.
xx
Well, apparently you needed this nap. I hope you feel better. I love the photos you posted, they make me feel more relaxed, and I hope you feel it too.
Best wishes to you!

Lovely...
I've been wanting to reread that book. We are supposed to do it in middle school literature next school year but thinking maybe reading it before hand will be good... Thanks for the insight.
i do believe we have the same illness... :(
had to leave a comment regarding Atticus Finch- finally someone expressing what i was feeling when i read that book last summer. I'm not a parent yet but i was so deeply moved by that character and kept thinking about how much this book was going to influence my future parenting style. I have to say, after reading TKAMB it moved to the very top of my favorite books list.
Sophie and I are reading To Kill a Mockingbird now, too! I love that book.
I too love the book. I actually re-read it every couple of years and I'm always mesmerized by his interactions with his kids. The DTC is actually performing the play next season and I'm anxious to read the book and see it acted out in play form.
Glad you felt well enough to enjoy Mother's Day.
Just re-read To Kill a Mockingbird for my Law and Literature class - it was great to revisit it as an adult, and after three years of law school! I was just as inspired now by his closing arguments in the trial as I was as a teen =)
Joslyn,
Love your patio pictures! I am trying to do something with mine - thanks for the inspiration!
