An Outfit (Deconstructed) ...

So I'm guessing this is fairly common, but I'm in a bit of a mid-summer clothing rut... (or maybe I'm telling myself it's common so I don't feel like such a sartorial failure.)

Case in point, this week's outfit is literally the first time in seven days that I haven't worn either: A. my black tank dress from Target with a taupe cardigan or B. a black knee length skirt from last summer with the aforementioned taupe cardigan (not counting work clothes, but then again, I rarely count work clothes...)

It's a bad scene friends. Yesterday Audrey asked me if I should (and I quote), "wash some clothes so I can wear a new dress."

See, sad.

I think it's the heat. Right? Yes, It's definitely the heat.

The Details:
  • Striped tunic -- J. Crew
  • Black skinny jeans (that I cut off in a moment of desperation) -- Gap
  • Shoes -- Chie Mihara
  • Necklace (that I broke and then knotted up in yet another act of desperation) -- Martin + Osa
  • Bracelets -- F is for Frank bangle + Gilt gold bracelets

  1. it's the heat......unless it's a swimsuit, everything feels uncomfortable. Which explains the clothing rut.

  4. Ditto on the summer fashion rut. I find myself sporting around in the same top day in and day out...

On a side note- where are you amazing chairs from? I've had my eye out for similar dinning chairs but I'm not sure what they are called or referred to as.

  7. I have to agree with you, it is the heat. Ever since we moved to Brazil, I feel like every day I better my fashion faux pas. I love that entire outfit, it's perfection!

  9. Your sartorial failures would be wins for me! You put outfits together so creatively. Simple... yet lovely :)

  10. It's funny how we are so eager for summer weather and inevitably it gets miserably hot and humid and the clothing options become limited. If only I were 5 again and could run around in a bathing suit to SURIVIVE the dog days of summer...

  14. I feel the same exact way... it seems like I've worn everything a million times. I'd love to go on a shopping spree, that would help the situation. Must. Win. Lottery.

  19. Your get-up is super cute. But I get what you mean. I'm in that same rut. Jeans. Tee. Havianas. Every day. Not to mention pony tails... I was just discussing this with my mother in law ("MILly") this morning, and the more I talk about it, the more I realize it's time for a change. Thanks for making me feel at ease about my rut, and also for inspiring me to get myself out of it. :) Have a fantastic rut-free weekend!
