The girlies were on Spring Break all last week, but because we go on our annual family beach trip in April, Bryan and I weren't able to take time off from work, resulting in a lot of leaning on grandparents and neighbors and gymnastics camp and, well...scrambling.
By Friday we were all a bit fried and in need of a break, so I packed our bags, and we stole away to a cool hotel (The Belmont) just outside of downtown. The girlies were totally surprised and completely thrilled (seriously what kid doesn't love a night in a hotel!) We took them to dinner at a fun restaurant where they ogled groovy vintage chandeliers and noshed on s'mores then we met up with Christine and fam for late night at the DMA. A fantastic Friday for sure.
Sunday we recovered and woke up to a wholly unexpected blanket of snow (it was 75 on Friday.) Seriously snow...in Texas...on the first day of Spring... Nutty stuff friends. For the record, Audrey happily tromped around outside in the cold for all of 5 minutes before we all retreated to the warm kitchen to eat buttery toast. We're over winter. I'm just sayin.
Hope your weekend was fantastic!

the girlies hamming it up in the hotel room
Saturday, after a yummy breakfast at Smoke (it was a bit of a food weekend), we had another big surprise up our sleeves, as we'd bought tickets to see Rain at Fair Park Music Hall, which was the closest the girls would get to seeing their favorite. band. in. the. world. Audrey was (for lack of a better adjective) gobsmaked. She was riveted... Loved every second and cheered like a wild woman for an encore. It was so fun to see her this blissed out.

house of milk -- thanks...we were going for vidal sassoon circa 1970 ;-)
This winter is cracking me up! We had flurries here, too, today after a Friday+Saturday in shorts!
I love that you stayed in a hotel so close to your house. That rocks.
those chandeliers are perfect! i've been poking around for one just like it for our home :)
not to mention, your girls are adorable.
Audrey is a beautiful little girl.
Rainy season has started in the North East of Brazil and I'm thrilled. I had enough beach for 11 straight months of sunny days, that was a bit too much of summer.
how fun! good getaway after a crazy week. love the chandaliers in the lobby/resturant.
Love the missing teeth!
What a great weekend for all. Your girls rock and love that kitchen shot, priceless.
I love that your kids love the Beatles. Thanks for more inspiration. You have become my Guide to the city.
Snow? I can't imagine. I'm so over snow here but I guess that's because we get a lot of it in Idaho. Looks like a beautiful weekend!
such a sweet family weekend.
this made me smile. what a lovely weekend.
I just left Dallas two weeks ago to move to Houston. I was so delighted to see what I am missing out on in your blog. And I still get happy with just a simple night spent at a hotel!
