I spend an awful lot of time thinking about what constitutes a perfect gift. (These are the things I ponder when I’m battling mild insomnia at 3:00 am, in case you’re wondering...) While I try to find something perfectly unique for each recipient on my list, when I come across something I know will be loved by many, I unashamedly buy in bulk… (Big boxes of See’s Dark Chocolate Bordeaux are my standard go-to bulk gift. They’re a win every. single. time.)
Ultimately I think the best gift is a combination of something useful + beautiful…something the recipient probably wouldn’t buy for themselves but will use and love – a lot. No dust collectors or fodder for re-gifting allowed.
I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite gift picks this year. Today I’ll post some goodies that would be especially good for the guys in your life (although I think they'd make most anyone awfully happy...) Tomorrow I’ll post my girlie + kiddo picks.
Enjoy!

- Yellow Owl Workshop’s tiny bike painting on wood
- Earthy, woodsy body cream with equally excellent packaging
- A sturdy utility tote…tuck in some bamboo utensils, some cloth napkins and a bottle of wine and presto, an instant groovy picnic “basket” for your favorite couple
- A big tin of old fashioned peppermint sticks to get even the biggest sweet tooth through the holidays
- Handcrafted bamboo iphone shell (spotted via Rachel and oh so cool)
- UO’s USB Portable Turntable
- Insanely lovely chocolate bars -- I’m still partial to my beloved See’s, but these are so pretty I had to include them
- One of the lovely “Cottage Studies “by the über talented Roma Winkle

Those King Leo peppermint sticks are one of my holiday must haves! I absolutely love them (and buy them in bulk from Smart and Final).
I agree! The peppermint sticks were my favorite, too! They're so yummy by themselves and then you can use them to stir your hot cocoa for a little splash of mint. All the other suggestions were fabulous, too! Thanks for sharing!
How I love See's. A big box of nuts and chews for me. My grandparents always had a double decker sitting on the organ bench during the holidays. So good. And now I'm smiling thinking about how groovy their organ was...
Thanks for this list, and keep the ideas coming!
I'm always stumped when it comes to my brother-in-laws. I think See's might be just the ticket (and that chocolate bar - gorgeous)
Thank you thank you - your list has just helped me solve a gift giving dilemma :)
I want so many of these. Can I be "one of the guys?" ;0)
Awesome....I so want that iphone case and that chocolate is gorgeous! Thank you for this hun, it is perfect!
