Two days a week I get to work from home, which admittedly is a pretty sweet deal...One of the best aspects of this set-up is that I actually have the time to prepare some sort of “real” breakfast on those two days (on the other three mornings, I eat an English muffin with peanut butter in route to work.)
Usually I make scrambled eggs with goat cheese or slow cook some oatmeal topped with cinnamon, almonds and blueberries… I’m a bit of a creature of habit. But Yesterday, I veered out of my comfort zone a bit and made a smoothie. I’m living on the edge here friends…who knows what will be next, crêpes?
So (you knew this was coming) spill it... What do you eat for breakfast?

I am not a creature of habit at all, but I DO eat the same thing for breakfast every morning during the work week: turkey pepperoni, string cheese, walnuts and either a Diet Coke (which I am trying to give up) or hot tea (I like Lady Grey or Irish Breakfast.) Protein gets me going!
Today, however, I am having my fave breakast treat: breakfast taco. A taquito from Whataburger, actually. Yum!
steel cut oats with cinnamon, nutmeg and a drip of maple syrup. or fiber one cereal (I desperately need fiber!) with soy milk. I guess I am a creature of habit too. I like not having to think about breakfast in the AM.
Yum, breakfast! My husband is a fantastic smoothie-maker, and most weekdays, he makes one for me as I'm on my way out the door to work. That, a piece of fruit and some muesli, and I'm good to go!
your breakfasts are decidedly more interesting (and tasty) than mine! i generally opt for toast or cheese on my way to work. and on the weekends i lean towards toast or cereal. i know, crazy, right?!

I'm pregnant, so protein is everything these days. With my last pregnancy it was a whole wheat bagel with peanut butter- every.single.morning. Somehow, I have more "energy" this time around, and I make scrambled eggs with cheese and huge slabs of toast (on that delicious homemade bread!) every morning. But I'm counting down the days until I can drink coffee again and eat my son's waffle scraps and call it good.
We're out of English muffins today, so it'll be instant oatmeal at my desk at work. . .hmm, not so thrilling.
Hihi, well I'm French so I do make crêpes sometimes for breakfast, when I wake up late and don't feel like having a lunch later on :)
But today was as good: chocolate cake + a sweet chicory with oat milk and nut cream.
Have a lovely day!
ooh...those all sound so yummy! I usually have yogurt with some granola, flax and blueberries! And now tea, instead of coffee, I have become obsessed with tea! (and that is crazy if you know me, I was ALL about coffee....go figure!) This am though, I am thinking I will have some yummy toast with cheese! :)

Bagel with orange marmalade and some fruit :)
Same thing every morning...I'm quite the creature of habit. Oatmeal with fruit brown sugar, black tea with honey, and a glass of orange juice. I think once summer hits, I'll be making smoothies. Oatmeal isn't the best on a 90 degree day.
I tend toward a bowl of cereal with dried or fresh fruit thrown on top. If it's really cold (which it isn't often in Oklahoma), I grab Malt-o-Meal (no, I'm not 83 years old), and put in some peanut butter and honey to make it more exciting. I eat a lot of light brown in the mornings, it seems.
(P.S. I'm a lurker, and I love your blog!)
Like Jenn, I am also a reformed "lurker" coming out of the woodworks. this is one of my favorite blogs, and if nothing else, i am at least capable of commenting on my breakfast habits!
for me, breakfast is a morning ritual that i love. i try to make it a priority to wake up early enough to sit down and eat a bowl of warm oatmeal, or make a scrambled egg. a smoothie sounds good, though! perhaps i should mix it up.

with unsalted butter and homemade jam.
heaven!
Normally it's a boring bowl of cereal but lately I've been so cold in the morning nothing but cinnamon toast would do. Yum!
A blueberry bagel with butter and a glass of milk. One of my all-time faves. Mmmm....
Love breakfast so much! Every morning I have quinoa with raisins, cinnamon, flax, peanut butter, and a tad bit of maple syrup! YUMMY!!! And some herbal tea during the day, but coffee on the weekends as a treat. But I love green smoothies and do one later in the day as a snack!
My sweet boyfriend always packs a breakfast for me to take on my way out the door. Smoothies are his specialty.
He also introduced me to Swedish Breakfasts, a small plate of crispbread, cheese, veggies and fruits. See?
It looks delicious!!! Then again, all your other options sound good too. : )
Oooh! That smoothie looks good.
My usual breakfast during the week is a Weight Watchers muffin and a cup of tea or coffee (depending on how much caffein I need that morning).
On the weekends, we cook a good, hearty breakfast.
I'm a cereal girl these days- but eggs are my first love.
I try to save them for special occasions.
your smoothie looks fantastic!
would be willing to share your recipe?
Lately I've been going back and forth with two things: steel-cut oatmeal with pecans and bananas or vanilla yogurt with bing cherries (thawed from frozen from trader joe's). yum yum!
During the summer it's smoothies and cereal.
My husband and I have been on a smoothie kick ourselves!!!! Sometimes I add peanut butter and it is delic!!!!!
I usually skip breakfast (I know, I know...most important meal of the day), but when I get a chance, I love a bagel with cream cheese.
creature of habit too: corn tortillas-cheese toasted and avacado & black beans on top. Yum. Your smoothie looks good!!
oatmeal! I swirl in some wheatberries, ground cinnamon, chopped walnuts, a drizzle of agave necter and top it off with a small dallop of peanut butter. Divine!
Your smoothie looks like the one I made yesterday morning! We like Irish style oatmeal with honey and cinnamon, plus some sort of smoothie made with soymilk or orange juice.
My kids love "banana boats", peanut butter and a little honey melted together then drizzled over a banana and topped with granola. Yumm!
That smoothie looks delicious.
I usually eat "eggs & greens" -- especially in the winter here (florida), which is when there are tons of good greans in season (asian greens are my favorite, but i love collards and kale too). I saute some greens with garlic or onions, or alone, season w/ salt and pepper and vinegar, and scramble or fry an egg or two! I love toast, too, when we have bread.
Yum! I love breakfast.
Complete creature of habit. Fridays means pancakes. One of the boys' favorites.
Ooohh..your smoothie looks so good! What is in it?
I work out three mornings a week, so those days I have a bagel and coffee.
The other mornings are Smoothie Mornings which make me happy.
Weekend mornings are times for swedish pancakes, french toast or eggs and toast.
Kashi cereal, six or seven days a week, for breakfast number one (I wake up early and eating once in the morning just doesn't cut it). Breakfast number two is often an English muffin or banana with peanut butter.
A suggestion for sexying up your oatmeal: generously sprinkle the top with brown sugar and torch it, or stick it under the roaster for a minute (like creme brulee). Even better if you put syrupy berries in the bowl first.
You've got me thinking about tomorrow's breakfast already - Saturdays are for special morning treats!
I mostly rotate between granola with soy milk, smoothies, & oatmeal with a bit of brown sugar. Plus fruit or juice. I love breakfast.
since November it has been Oatmeal with cinnamon and ground flax but over the summer and the warmer months yogurt and fruit or a smoothie is my ideal.
mmmm that looks good.
I asked my sister for a smoothy blender for christmas so I can make a smoothy to go in the morning.
what is yours made with???
Dammit... this morning... really... coffee & a cupcake. I know...I'm a stud. Ugh!
Monday - Saturday it's on the go in a major way - a toasted waffle with peanut butter. Then on Sundays (after a visit to the farmer's market) I make a veggie scramble or whole wheat pancakes. I wish everyday was sunday!
That smoothie looks delicious and I am going off to cook some oatmeal right now - you have made me very hungry with this post. xv
MM I go through phases- I'll have teh same thing every day for a few weeks until I get sick of it. And the weather dictates it a lot too. Last month it was always honey nut cheerios and milk. This month it's been pre-made waffles heated up with peanut butter, although the FDA has been saying no peanut butter until they figure out which brand has the salmonella poisoning so I guess I'll be doing regular butter for awhile instead. And sometimes fruit, too.
Fiber bar and a banana. At my desk. While reading the daily RSS feeds on privacy issues.
During the winter months I eat steel cut oatmeal with fat free milk, splenda, cinnamon, and fresh berries. During the summer, I like to make a green smoothie with applejuice, ice, spinach, strawberries, banana, and flax seed oil. Looks digusting, tastes great and is super good for you.
Your smoothie looks DELISH. What's in it?
WOW it looks picture perfect! Gets me in a mood to have one...! BTW: What kind of cam did you shoot that with??

I am crazy about food, but I am never inspired in the morning. What usually tastes best to me is a fried egg, toasted sourdough bread and fresh-squeezed juice. That always hits the spot! I am so impressed that your readers are all so healthy in the morning! I'd better try some of these ideas. :)
So happy I found you through Cookie. Love love love your blog and am so sad I missed out on your no-buying stage.
But, wanted to say I have the same breakfast as you but I put some flaxseeds on as well. I am not a creative cook so I don't bake a lot of things I could work them in to, but even I can sprinkle some from the bag from Trader Joe's on to a pb English muffin.
So looking forward to more from you!
Depending on whether I have my kids or not, my breakfasts habit are a little different. On my kids weeks I usually sit down with them and have a cheese sandwich and some yoghurt with granola. If I have time, a cup of mint tea as well.
On the other weeks though, I either have a couple of fried eggs and a glass of OJ at home in front of the tv or computer, or I get a salmon cream cheese grilled sandwich from a café with my boyfriend.
I have been thinking a lot about smoothies though in the last couple of weeks, but I don't really like to eat too cold things in the morning. To me, hot (or at least room temperature) food and drinks are more comforting, and a gentler way to wake up. But I might start doing the smoothie routine later this year, when the weather starts getting warmer...
